Burien is on the agenda for tonight’s (Wed., Jan. 24) edition of ‘The Shadow Council’ at the Northwest Film Forum on Capitol Hill in Seattle.
The event – billed as a ‘satirical forum’ hosted by Brett Hamil – will run from 8 – 10 p.m., and new Burien City Councilmember Krystal Marx, along with former lawmaker Lauren Berkowitz will be the guests of honor, discussing how they “fought back the tide of Trumpism in the last election.”
Tickets are available online here: https://boxoffice.diamondticketing.com/nwfilmforum/tickets as well as at the door.
Here’s more info from a Facebook event listing:
This session of the Council is a BURIEN INVASION! We’re going to get to the bottom of just what the heck is going on down there. We’ve got newly elected Burien councilmember Krystal Marx, who fought back the tide of Trumpism in the last election, along with Lauren Berkowitz, Burien City Councilmember, the tireless advocate who was censured last year by the council for livetweeting their proceedings—we’ll invite her to livetweet *our* session and present her with the Shadow Council Participation Award, our third highest honor.
PLUS! We’ve got brilliant Seattle writer Mattilda Bernstein Sycamore presenting a piece of Shadow Legislation, and Brett Hamil will submit a proposal to limit future Seattle mayors to just 4 inaugurations per term.
DON’T MISS IT
The Shadow Council is a satirical forum hosted by Brett Hamil (of The Seattle Process with Brett Hamil). Expert Witnesses present findings on topics both local and national, and the Council submits proposed legislation, public comment, questions and complaints into the Democracy Bucket™.
