It’s time to name the two new schools being built in Highline Public Schools, and the district is seeking YOUR help.
The district is asking the public to pick your top three names for the new elementary school in Des Moines and the new middle school in SeaTac.
Both schools will open in fall 2019.
Schools in Highline must be named after people or geographic features, according to district policy. The naming committees researched names and talked to fellow residents, district alumni, students and staff. Each committee created a list of potential school names. Now it’s your turn to help trim the list they submit to the school board.
“Our naming committee members are excited to move forward,” said Diana Garcia, Director of Education Specification & Transition Planning. “Our volunteers approached this process with a commitment to research and consider the possibilities with an open mind. We will submit three to five names for each school to the school board this spring.”
All are invited to take the survey by Feb. 28: highlineschools.org/name.
