From Reader Lance McIntosh comes this warning:

UNAUTHORIZED ENTRY AND THEFT!

I have been renting an outside storage space at the Public Storage facility at 18041 Des Moines Memorial Dr SW, SeaTac, WA 98148 (at the west end of SW 188th St just west of the 509 overpass). Sometime between mid-August and January 1, someone entered my space and rummaged through my belongings. It appears they were only looking for personal information, other valuable items were disrupted but not removed. There was no sign of forced entry, so someone had to have picked the lock.
Public Storage DOES NOT NOTIFY their tenants in the event of break-in or theft, so I am doing it for them. The lock on my unit was the cylinder type that slides into the latch, the ones that they require you to install and must purchase from them. Policy at Public Storage is that the lockers are never entered by staff or management, and surveillance only goes back a month. So far, I have not been successful in obtaining tapes to view, I’m still working on it. I have filed a police report.
If you or anyone you know has storage at this facility, please pass this information on and encourage them to check out their unit. The perpetrator was not careful, items were strewn about and some damage occurred, it will be easy to tell if someone has accessed other units.
Additionally, I would like to hear from anyone else who finds out their unit was accessed without permission. You can email me at: lancemcintosh@yahoo.com
