Story & Photos by Aaron Wells
A series of assaults and robberies occurred throughout the Burien area into late Saturday (Feb. 24) including an assault shortly before 11 p.m. at a bus stop on 1st Ave South and S. 146th Street.
In that incident, a witness reported that she had observed a group of young people jump out of a car and assault a person waiting at the bus stop. Although police arrived and detained a handful of suspects, the witness also stated that she observed additional suspects leaving in the car prior to police arriving.
Sgt. Ryan Abbott with the King County Sheriff’s Office confirms that – in addition to the above incident – Burien officers also dealt with a group of juveniles at the Burien Transit Center shortly before a robbery at the same location.
Officers also responded to a report of robbery involving a gun near 4th Ave. S. and S. 158th Street. In that incident, the suspects demanded the victim’s jewelry and left in a vehicle.
